will a 500HO break free and slide in the turns (for the fun of it) or does the rear end tend to make it grab. Should I buy the magnum instead, but the HO would be better for most of my riding. Any comments would be helpful, thanks

In a word YES. I have had my ho for 2 weeks and for a big machine it powrslides great! The way i figure it when I get it broke in and can give it full power it should even be better. Hope this helps. Later

If spirited overall riding is your goal go with the Sportsman HO. It makes a great "ditch banger"

The Magnum is more of a "flat tracker"

Rough trails can be traversed at a higher speed on the Sportsman, but... there is little warning when you reach the end of its available tractive limits. The Magnum will send you signals that it is time to slow down before it reaches the edge. This has been my experience anyway.

The SP500HO will power slide with relative ease and is smooth while sliding.Just be aware that when this big machine finally runs out of suspension it will roll and that aint cool on a 700 pound machine.

Even the non-H.O power sides well and do not worry about the IRS because the sway bar works great.Just may sure you have it in 2wd first or it get real hairy.

I hear alot of talk about how the IRS hurts the SP500 in corners and fishtailing. I completely disagree. I have ridden both the 500magnum and the SP500, and I would give the edge to the SP500. If the corner is bumpy the SP500 sticks the curve alot better.

There have held about 15 barrel race competitions at FWP and to my knowledge a Magnum has never won. I have witnessed the SP500s win on several occasions. As far as I know, I hold the fastesttime on a utility with a time of 24.09. I have yet to see a magnum under 26 seconds. (This could be due to rider ability)
