awd how does it work

does anybody know how the awd works on a 95 xplorer works is there a switch some where that tell the front the back is spining in other word what locks the hubs when needed

awd how does it work

magnets in front wheels put load on hub till shaft spins to engage the hub

does it take 12 volts to the hubs when i checked i only had like 2 volts

awd how does it work

2 volts were it should be 12 on the gray wires
