Some Jack *** filled a gas can with water so guess what I did? Yep filled up my tank with it. I tried to start it without knowing that water was in the tank and it ran long enough to get it out of the garage then died. It just wont run. Duh> Anyway, I,ve been told to drain the tank, change the plug, and change the oil. I'm wondering if it could have done any motor damage???

yep, i don't think i can top that one. worst i did was forgot to turn the gas back on after having a jet kit installed. i got it home and went to run it and it shut off on me. thought the jetting was screwed up and called the dealer to tell them they screwed something up. man did i feel like a jack ace. never forgot to turn the gas back on since.
hopefully you don't have any engine damage.

HI,DON'T FRET NONE,AS SOON AS THE WATER HIT THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER IT DIED. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING BUT DRAIN THE TANK, DRAIN THE CARB,BLOW THE LINES,IT TAKES A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER TO KILL THE ENGINE.YOU CAN BE SAFE THAN SORRY ON OIL,BUT NO ENGINE DAMAGE.

My assumption is this is a four stroke. It definately won't hurt to change the engine oil. That will also give you piece of mind. Also run some gas line anti freeze (heet) with the first tank to try and dissipate ALL of the moisture left behind. Make sure you you the correct amount of the Isopropyl, you don't want to grenade the thing and then tell us about another screw up. LOL
