Default Steering Post

Morning, well almost afternoon, I have got a popping noise in my steering post. I can turn it slightly or abrubtly sitting still and it makes the noise. When I ride up the creek and hit a rock it will jerk the bars enough to make the popping noise. It has done this since new, What the $$$$$ is going on or is this normal? I hear it is a very common problem. BTW I have a 500 HO, 2006 model.

Check at the base and look at the bushing for it. May be loose, or just worn out. OEM part for the older models was plastic, don't know about the newer ones. Also the older ones were riveted instead of being bolted. There is an aftermarket that is made out of aluminum. For a few dollars more, it's well worth it.
