Has anybody done it? Is it worth the cost/trouble?

I've been wondering the same. Sounds like something to be done while your dropping a wiseco in and other mods on the internal side. I doubt it would be worth doing all alone. My plans are to do the whole shootin match with HPD reed cage mod next winter hopefully.

That would be the best time to do it, 00TB250. When mine kicks the bucket, I'm gonna try my own porting job. It should save some money, as long as I don't mess it up too bad!! I practiced on a 300-6cyl head before I did the heads I'm runnin' on my 351W. I learned awfully fast not to use a high-speed grinder!! I just put my gaskets on, outlined the ports with a magic marker, then opened up the ports till they were the same size as the gasket-openings. I know you wanna a leave a "rough" texture on the intake to keep the fuel and air "in suspension", but smooth out the exhaust port. I'm not sure how much helped in the power department, but I don't think I lost any.

Seems that velocity would definatly be the key on a motor with no reeds.
