I read somewhere that when breaking in the little radio control nitro engines easy like the instructions say they will last alot longer than one broken in hard. Since those little engines dont last as long as one on an atv it is easy to see which break in process is best.

That's right, the factory break-in procedure is very important.

I broke mine in kinda hard. Harder than I would like to admit. I just couldn't stay out of her!!! hahaha! I have a lot of friends that believe thats the way to go....??? Not sure I'm totally sold on that. I did do my oil changes on time. I clean and over grease EVERY time I ride and do a pre inspection EVERY time before I ride. People can't stand how fanatical I am with the maintenance on the machine. I wrecked it really hard when I first bought it and now I guess I feel sorry for that and try to take extra good care of her. I also ride mine hours DAILY, Being able to ride from home. It's raining right now, I'm going out as soon as it clears!!

i have one of those rc cars and yea it took me 3 hours to break it in properly. i deff believe in breaking in things easily. i never was able to afford a new atv or will i anytime soon. but i race my race car that has a 270 2 stroke dirt bike engine in it and me replace the pistons every 7 racing weekends and when we have new ones we have to break it in easy or heat cycle the engine. we start it and put it in nutral right away. then we rev it in nutral. never hold it at any throttle. everyone with these engines do teh same thing. and that is not just oppinions on whet they think is right it is what the engine builder sais is needed we start it run it and get it up to temp atleast 3 times before we run the car and put any pressure on the engine. you have to vary teh throttle and don't let it idle or say at one rpm at all.

I say ride it like you stole it. I take very good care of my stuff but when it comes to breaking-in a quad or street bike, these engines are meant to take the abuse. Just make sure you vary the rpm's for the first few hours and CHANGE THE OIL after the first ride. Just my opinion. Either way enjoy your new toy.
