RE ECM fire
I have only heard rumors. Recall notice says there is a CHANCE of fire caused by overheated ECM. Dealer seems to feel it is an overblown issue and said just keep using the quad but follow instructions of notice: disconnect NEGATIVE battery terminal when quad is not in use or is unattended. They say they will have replacement part . . . eventually.
I installed battery cutout switch with key. Disconnects battery and provides a little additional theft protection.

2203350 KIT-SUREPOWER ECM 600\700
Part was advanced to minimum order quantity 1 Available 05/16/2008

Here is a copy of the "parts availability" portion of Polaris' dealer page. You notice is says 500 to 1000 weekly. I wonder how many are on backorder total? 50,000? 25,000? 10,000? I have open work orders that are dated in late February that I still don't have parts for! Nestle in fellas. It's gonna be a while!!!!

No fire .........I still think about the up-dated one I put in mine and needed it replaced........That was the real fire hazzard.....The fan was running until the Battery was dead!!......This could have caused a fire in the garage .....It must have run for awhile....something could have overheated and caught fire in no time at all!!

I am on the list for my wife's ECM.....But we were out Sunday and went 65 miles total for the day(yes with the A/C) and ....I am NOT going to let this long wait for the part to stop me from using them!!!......Caper.........
