I just got my 06' SP450 (Wife's) serviced this weekend.
All TRUE, that it only took the Tech about less than 15min.
to swap out the old with the new. I stood by him as he
serviced this issue, did it with my quad still on the trailer
strapped up on my way to our Weekend Ride. The old module
looks like a huge HEAT sink like in these computers about
the same dims as a POP TART (Lol). The newer one was
about 1"ch wider. He accessed it thru RAD POD opening.

If you haven't contacted your dealer about this issue and
received the RECALL letter, I would encourage you to do so.
The word all around is that there is a serious back order on
these. BUT I called my dealer like 2 months ago to arrange
for part order and this past weekend service date. - ALL GREAT
things to say about my dealer and the quad is running great!

I have been waiting for one for about 2 mounths now for a repair i am doing, all they keep doing is pushing the backorder away another week by week

 

Since its a nationwide RECALL can you call another dealer?

Yes I am waiting for my wife's new ECM from the recall also the dealer will phone me when it's in.....................As for the install........Let me see it I remember!!!!!....LOL....LOL..

1.switched mine and my wife's to pin-point the trouble!!
2.My factory one replaced....(ME)
3.My replacement one replaced...(ME)
4. can do my next one with my eye's closed!!!...LOL....

Interesting...talked to my mechanic at my dealer and he told me they had completed ALL of their recalled customers bikes quite a while ago! They went back through their records and called ALL of their effected customers personally!

 

I still did NOT even get my notice in the mail yet!!!
I think I know why now.......
They have MINE (blue one) listed as up-dated....So no notice was sent out to me!!
However my wife's(which is in my name)..(Yellow one)....In my name so the up-grade is listed as complete!!
Two Quads under my one name ....But there records show me as serviced!!.......
I am in Canada also ...Which my buddy recieved his alot latter then I read on here in regards to the U.S.A. owners!!!.........That's what I noticed just from reading these forums!!......Caper.......

 

Wow, thats good service JOKOUT! Hey Caper, my dealer would not even give me the option
to do myself since it was RECALL related. Did you have to pay for yours? My part and service
was all free, thank God!

My first one was sent to me in the mail...But he needed to get the old one first..No charge!!
Second one in mine I did pay for but the women at the counter ask for my VIN# and did a check,Phoned me back that night at home,told me to bring the old one back in the box and she will give me a full refund!!..Thank You very much!!!

As for the people wondering why i on my third ECM...Here the story again
Factory one in my Quad:
Trouble first time ....When I turned the headlight switch on ..The engine would shut off !!
this was do to a faulty Solid State Circuit Breakers installed in the ECM

Second ECM(one that is being used now!!) trouble:
My cooling fan was running without the key even in the F---ing Quad!!!!
I was outside cooking on the Bar-B-que and I heard it running!!!
The Quad was sitting there for well over 5 hours COLD!!!
That is the scary part!!!.......The up-dated one in my Quad is the real FIRE hazzard !!...Caper.......

So NO I did not pay for any ECM's .......THE ECM KING!!!!....................

 

I forgot to say I on my THRID one now!!!!
But my wife STILL has the Factory Black one in there!!..........Caper...........
