Default Movin' on up?

Howdy everyone.....last weekend was good and bad. The bad is one of my Bud's rolled his 1999 Sportsman 500. Stuff broken and bent but was able to get back to the main camp on some "easy" roads and then drove on these roads exploring for two more days. The brake reservoir was broken away from the handle bars but he still had brakes all around. (Why?) The good was that no one was hurt and we were out riding our Polaris'. We were going down some nasty but great downhills. My 2007 X2 500 camo has EBS only and I had to brake and power at the same time to be in control going downhill. I couldn't let the EBS takeover only because the wheels would "chatter" down the hills and the X2 would start to drift a bit. It was actually work going down some of this steep stuff and they were long downhills. Then I got on to my other Bud's 2007 Sportsman 500 DeLuxe with ADC. Whoa!....this ADC is the cat's meow! Mucho more control and less work going downhill. I tried to screw up going down this stuff and the ADC wouldn't allow it. I didn't use any brakes at all. When I got back to civilization I checked into adding ADC to my X2 and found out it's not feasable. Now I am going to trade in my 2007 X2 for a 2008 X2 with ADC because I'm that impressed. No question on being more safe in my book. Ok....now the dilemma........the 500 X2 or the 700 X2. I haven't seen much camparisons of the 2008 500 and 700 X2's. I like the longer wheel base on the X2 frame and will stick with that style. The milage is always an issue with the 800 Sportsmans so does the 700 falls "in between".... kinda? The X2's have the big tank....what the heck.....is the 700 X2 worth it or not. What's the gas use compared to the 500. Is a 700 much spunkier than a 500? I never ride 2-up.....just like the size of the X2. A couple of things that would be missed on the 700 is the rope pull backup and the camo color..... but I just gotta have that ADC.

If the 500 is enough power for you then stick with that. The 700 will use much more fuel. There is a limited edition 500 X2 available in camo.It is a Browning edition with hand and thumb warmers and a winch.

I was in the same dilemma when I bought my X2 500 2007.....

I try at the Polaris demo day....X2 500 and X2 700. I try it at two diferent demo day and of course different terrain, technical and some stretch for speed......

My thoughts......X2 500 is good enough to do trail ridding, working, plowing, leave at idle for a long period, have a decent power, fuel efficient........ X2 700 have lot more ZIP power band, need lot more fuel, have more heat built up if you did working with it....

For ridding with buddy and trail ridding only....I'll go with the X2 700....couples of undred bucks more.....it a good deal. Take more gas.....but fun to ride.

If you plan did some chore with it......less gaz consumption, trail ridding alone at your pace......I'll pick X2 500.......

I have no regret at all.....

good luck

Yes, ADC is very nice, especially with the new models that have the switch option to turn it OFF if you don't need it. I'd go with the 700.
