Default 800 belt replacement

I searched the forums but could not find the answer so... When do you recommend replacing the drive belt on an 05 800? What mileage, what hours and should I stick with an OEM belt? I know what the book says but I wanted your opinions. Thanks in advance.

I change mine every 1200 miles. I had replaced belts that still looked good but for $50 and 20 min work I change them anyways. I,m sure they can go well over 2000 miles though if use properly.

they have a life time warranty buit they do get warn down. stick w/ the polaris belt for sure. they need replacing when they have been smoked a few times which kills the life out of the belt. clean the clutches good when you have it apart as well.
