2004 Polaris Sportsman 700 that is stuck in 4wd, will not disengage. Also Battery light comes on when fan turns on. Sounds like a cheap fix.

Any thoughts out there on this one? I have a 03 Carbed - I think this 04 was fuel injected, are all 700's 04's FI?

I had an 04 700 that I sold in December with 5100 miles.Only the late release 2004.5 were efi.As far as the 4wd not disengaging,it probably needs a cage or the armature plate is magnetized.Both are easy fixes if you are handy with a wrench.With the battery, check the water level in it.Mine would flash low voltage until I filled it up.

 

roller cage in front end gone. maybe ecm is bad for the battery light coming on. if you get it cheap enough it would be worth it.

 

Thanks for the info, found out it wasn't EFI last night as well. Guy is looking for $2600 with 850 miles on it. Not gaining much as I already have 2003 SP700 thats black/silver and the 04 is yellow - not a favorite color, so maybe I will just buy it, fix it and flip it, price sounds right, maybe make $500.
