Well, 28's would definitely give you more clearance so you are less likely to high center it....for the $10 I would go with the 28's. As for the width and mud holes, I'm not sure what you are asking. I don't have a problem going through them thats for sure! If you found the 28's are packing the wheel wells, you could add a 2" lift very affordably....

What I meant was, is there a big differance in stance when you placed the 1.5" spacer in?

Birddog with 1.5" spacers you could put a 10" wide tire on the front and wouldn't need spacers for a 12" wide tire on the back also i run 28"s with no lift or clearance problems.

i wonder if it makes a differance on the kind/brand tire you have wheather theres any cleanance issues w/ the 28". 27" have no issues fitting. 9" might fit or rub w/out offset rims or spacers. imo.

thats a good question ever since the day i put my 589's on i was wondering if different tire makers weren't a little different in sizes, i do know it would have to be a huge difference for the tire not to clear, at leaset on mine i am not even close to hitting anywhere. i am pretty sure even a 9" tire will rub without spacers or turning the tie rod

This is the set up I am looking at, and I agree on different brand tires do have different size measurements. I am real big in lifting trucks and bought many tires for my Dodge Ram and if it is like that with truck tires I am sure it is the same with ATV tires.

Becasue it seems to me that 8's up front and 10's in the rear they are going to look like pizzia cutters. Also them spacers will give them that wider look and eventually I am going to order a 2 inch lift later down the road.

Awsume800efi, you have pictures with you wheeler on 28's! Thanks

I just want to put in my $.02 worth. If you go from a 26" tire to a 28" tire you gain 1 inch of ground clearance, assuming the tires are actually the advertised size. I know they are off by 1/2 inch on many of them. So maybe you gain 3/4" of ground clearance. Some people say they need lots of ground clearance for mud riding or whatever. An inch or less doesn't seem to me like it will make much difference. If you need an extra inch then by all means move up to the 28" tires but be prepared to re-clutch and possibly need a set of spacers too.

I doubt if I'll ever go more than one inch over stock because you can just put them on your old wheels and you're done. No aftermarket wheels with more offset, no spacers, no BigFoot clutch kit, no problem. But if you have loads of money you don't need, go all out and get a 6" lift and 32" Silverback tires from Gorilla Axle.

Thanks alot for the help jumbo and I agree, one inch or so is not going to make that big of a differance when going through a mud hole, I guess it is the look that I am after. But I have never re-clutched a wheeler before and have no idea where to start, that is why I have been thinking about going with the 27's! instead but for 10 dollars more I could get a set of 28's with spacers.

I think the 28's would look better too. If you get them post some pics of the quad.
