ATV gets hot and starts running rough, shuts down, backfires when trying to start, seems that once it cools down it runs fine. Is the temp unit working enough to run the fan sometimes? seems like it vapor locks? is there anyone that knows? local Polaris dealership does not know how to fix, please tell me theres some one that knows how to work on and fix this.

 

check the fuel pump. give it a shot of starting fluid .see if it we fire on that. when a fuel pump is going bad some times they do it when they get hot. you can use a car pump an save $. 04 and 05 were hard on pumps.hope this helps.

 

Fuel pump is in the tank, how can a car fuel pump work? Leave original hooked up and tie into the same gas line? will this work, Over 400 bucks for tank and pump totall Bulls***t. Im not even sure thats the problem. Help!!!!

Really good info there. It's good to know that a replacement pump can be bought for around 100 bucks. I will be getting a polaris now. My local dealer ordered too many 800s last year and is having problems selling them. He told me on the phone today that he will let them go for 7,000.
