If the quad ran good when it was dead cold ( during winter, no less ) then it would run like CR+P due to it being WAY over rich. Let the engine warm up and reach operating temperature. Fire the quad up and let it warm up as you put on your helmet and other riding gear. DON'T HAMMER ON IT UNTILL IT HAS REACHED OPERATING TEMP !!!
If you do, tell your dad that you need a proper whippin' !!!

Now one truly cold blooded machine is a Kawasaki Tecate.

I have had no complaints with either my 99 Sportsman or my 00 Xplorer with cold weather starting.I have a airbox mod on my Xplorer that really rocks,I did it myself too.Even the 2 stroker provides good starting, you just have to baby the throttle for a minute or so.

I'd suggust you let daddy start the quad for you and warm it completely before he gives it to you to ride.In fact, the Sportsman is a heavy quad, much to big for a youngster like you.How about asking pops if he'll let you ride your sisters 12 volt Barbie car until you learn to warm up a mans quad properly? At least the Barbie car wont need no warm up,LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL

Xplore, Buffy is really Ben, gender crisis i guess. Sounds to me like the little shirt want to start an internet fight. Sorry froggy! Don't play with little she'la's like you. Biffy(aleast this sound like alittle boy), ask Daddy for your bike back and stay away from engines that need gas until your 16......ok......

Gee, mine will start with no choke quite often. Maybe you're not using the choke?

I can start mine at -10* with NO problems. I just let it idle to warm up.

The choke can be a little tricky, but keep your thumb off the throttle, and itll run fine.

Can't imagine what you'd do if you were where it is really cold!

BTW, the choke is the little round **** on the LH side of the headlight pod! Time for an ATV safety class!

What is real cold in Georgia? 35F. I know people who live in Minnesota and Wisconson that do not have cold start problems. Maybe you're actually a Honda subversive trying to stir up the Polaris owners.

I have a Rubicon and I have to admit it is also "cranky" when cold. I don't think it makes it any less of a great quad, so really you should be thankful you even have a quad, much less one of the best machines on the market. Maybe if you were paying for it with your own money it would mean more to you.
