Polaris Scrambler 500 H.O
#1
Hello Yall,
New to the forum. Glad to see there is one out there for polaris. I have purchased a 2003 Polaris Scrambler 500 H.O. I used to have a 99 Scrambler 500 and loved it. The only thing that gets me about this 4wheeler is that every time I go through a little deep mud or water, the belt slips like crazy.
What can I get it to stop doing that?
ALSO,
What are some really good performance parts for this quad? I have added 12 inch ITP wheels along with 25 inch ITP Mud Lites for the mud and trails.

Take off the clutch cover and make sure the gasket is getting a good seal. If it is damaged or leaking any water will make the belt slip. When you are in there check the condition of the belt. may be time to replace it.

Hey, Thanks for the help! I just replaced the belt about 2 days ago and took it riding a day later and it did it again. It looks like water is getting in through the little part right about the coolent overflow where it lets the belt breath or whatever that platic part is for...it just really sucks because after water gets in there, it will hardly move...

If you are getting that deep in water you are causing other damage from the water. Your airbox is right there also and it is easy to suck in water at that level. If you are building this quad just for mud bogs than you need to clutch it for that and then snorkle the vent from the clutch and the airbox or you will not have a reliable quad for long. Alot of work goes into those quads to allow them to run in water up to the seat.

Make sure you call them and tell them exactly what mods you have and how you ride. They should set you up with the right clutch.
Water over the front tires is deep. I hope you grease your quad alot and make sure you buy some chain spray. I would also consider buying a spray for your frame and parts like WD40 to help prevent rust from starting. Water is very bad.
