Default Polaris, why no.............

Just curious why Polaris doesnt get into dirt bikes? they make and/or sell most everything else. Like snowmobiles, ATV's, rangers, motorcycles, yard equipment, and used to do skid loaders, boats and PWC's. Were are the dirt bikes? Im not interested in one but just wondering.

I've been wondering the same thing for over a decade. EVERYONE ELSE that makes ATVs makes dirt-bikes, right? WHY NOT Polaris? Maybe the market is over-saturated. No room for another brand?

I'd rather have something like a two-wheeled Magnum 500 H.O. than a regular dirt-bike. They could own the market on the off-road "adult mini-bike" class, with lots of suspension and power, and a rack on the back for some cold ones. I think other people would want them too, but maybe it's just me.

LOL yah, if polaris made a dirt bike it would be 2 wheel drive (shaft front and rear), weigh 499 LBs, have front and rear racks, 150# on front and 300# on rear, along with low range. Dont get me wrong I love the weight of my sportsmans for pulling!

I can see why they haven't. By the time they spent countless dollars on R&D, and the cost of having to retool or develop a new assembly line, they'd still be behind the other major manufacturers as far as proven reliability (in dirt bikes) goes.

As for the past, until they came out with the Predator, all they had were automatics. Not practical on a dirt bike.

They had a couple of other foot-shifters before that, but most people kept buying autos so they discontinued them.

"...until they came out with the Predator, all they had were automatics..." was just plain wrong. You didn't say <u>what they have now</u>. I believe you too were talking about the past too when you said, "<u>As for the past</u>, until they came out with the Predator, all they had were automatics."

There were two models, a 425 and a 325. Both were 5-speed foot-shifters.

If I recall correctly there were two models, one with a smallish engine.</end quote></div>

Well, I guess you can sue me. Still, they're not going to make a dirt bike.
