mixing fuel isn't going to keep it from burning a hole in the piston, i don't care how much oil you put in it. you should also get the entire jetting setup from aaen not just the main jet. you will possibly need pilot jet, needle jet, jet needle, main jet to make it run properly. most people get mad when they burn down a motor after mods, when it is there fault for not following jetting instructions that came with pipe
new, but if you buy it used they are not aware they need to make changes to keep the motor reliable.

I bought it from Aaen new. I talked to the owner himself and he said they use as small as a 240 main, but to be safe he suggests a 260. He also said the needle jet should be fine at stock position. I have since reveresed the washer and eclip and it seems to be better. If anything it may be a tad on the rich side, but I am fine with that. After a 25min ride the plug was a dark brown. Thanks for the replies.

Yes Scrabler mixing the fuel can help due to some of the atvs with auto oilers will put mix more oil with the fuel as the throttle is used. Polaris directly suggested that the oiler be disabled on that 400 my dad had. He had done just as nwilagm and adjusted everything with new jet kits and all that. There are many factors that play into getting one adjust right to your type of riding.

My Quad seems to be better, but still seems to be on the hot side. I rechecked the plug and its just on the dark side. The electrode is brown. It does not seem to be a lean problem now. I am getting great flow through the new radiator. I had to shim the water pump to get the air gap into spec. Has anyone used the inline coolers, and if so do they actually work? Maybe I am just paranoid with all the previous problems I have had, and it may be fine now. I just want it trouble free once and for all. Thanks

It may not be running as hot as you think. There are times I think mine is running hot but the fan kicks on and off as is should. You may want to check your antifreeze/water mixture. Polaris recommends a 50/50 mix. They say that if it's not mixed 50/50 that it can run warm. I now this because I had a 500 magnum boil over. It was under warranty and the dealer had mixed it wrong right off the bat. Never had a problem after that though.

I am considering putting an exhaust temp gauge and an actual temp gauge instead of the idiot light so I know what is going on. I just don't want to rebuild it again. It gets expensive. Anyone have any thoughts on the gauges? I heard trail tech has an all in one gauge set up like that with speedo tach etc... Thanks
