I am thinking of getting a '00 Scarmbler 400 4x4, or '00 Scrambler 500 4x4 for my wife. Can you guys tell me the good and bad points about the 2 and 4 stroke? Does anyone know the actual weight difference betwwen the 2? Reliability? Thanks in advance. Please don't bother with the brand bashing for me, I own a Kawasaki Tecate 4, Honda 300EX, Yamaha Warrior, and soon to be a Scrambler(I hope).

Both the engines are bullet proof now its up to you to decide if your wife wants the snappy, when she hits the gas instant wheelie, get up and go feel of the 400 2 stroke. Or the torqueinstein powerhouse 500 4 stroke.

I have a 400 and it can really go but it does have a very strong low end for muddin' and technical hill climbs, and this is on a 2x4 never mind what the 4x4 model will do.

The 500 has the same engine as the sportsman 500HO needless to say not only is the engine fast at 65mph but it also has a very broad low end for technical trail riding.

Either way you go you'll be getting a very reliable fun to ride machine.
