Does anyone have a picture of this screen out and for those that do clean it has it every been clogged ( dirty ) ? I might look into installing a Filter Mag on the POPO I have them installed on all my autos . http://www.filtermag.com/

I don't see what the problem is. Priming is so easy to do its hardly even worth mentioning.

Okay, how about buying a little "in line" fuel shut off valve, like for a lawnmower engine, and installing it right in the vent line before the slit. Just close valve, start engine, wait 60 seconds, open valve, done.

Jodaanja this may be a neat trick till you forgot to turn it back on and seized the engine!

I think the shut off is a REAL bad idea!!!..........And yes you listen for the RUSH of air while the engine is running........Do you still have your owners manual............Caper...........

I was not sure if this proceedure was in place back in 2000..........All I know is for my 2006 it is listed..

The polaris manual says on priming that you close off the hose while its running and then release the clamp on the hose and you will heat a whoosh of air going thru the hose, well after 4 attempts i nver heard a whoosh or air, The air trapped in the line is minimal, i clamped the oil line then started it i could feel the pressure building on the inlet before the clamp and with the oil cap off when i released the clamp on the oil line i noticed air bubbles bubbling in the motor oil by looking down thru the oil filler tube and eventually you could feel a pulse of oil and pressure going thru that oil line, good enuff, But you will never hear a whoosh of air like polairs says .

You have to listen for the air. It happens and you can hear it. Just make sure you pinch it off long enough. I usually count to 45 then let er go. You might have to try a few times but it WILL happen. Just give it a try before you just discredit it as something not needed. It takes all of 1 minute and if your gonna take the time to change the oil why half *** it and not prime it.

It probably will prime itself after a while but why take that chance! Especially if it's not even your quad. Your buddy must have some faith in you to do the job right so do it right. If your not sure how it's done then tell him so that he can have it done right. I would be really PIS$ED OFF if my buddy worked on something acting like he knew what he was doing then ruined my machine, for lack of knowledge or laziness!!!!
