800 Sportsman Exhaust
#1
I am thinking about changing the exhaust out, but haven't had much luck finding anything. I kind of want to go with a single instead of dual set setup.
For anyone that has changed, did you keep the the header or whole new system?
Best place/brand will be appreciated also.
Thanks!

Aaen gives you more power and torque at any rpm. http://www.aaenperformance.com/Power800.asp A lot of other pipe manufacturers don't show dyno proof to back up their claims.

I have a hot seat performance exhaust. Kept the stock header pipe, bought a slip on, am very happy with sound, louder but not to loud and has improved my bottom end.

Hey, welcome to the forum baldman....how do you like those bighorns? Post some pics some time so we can check out your inventory! Make sure you read sheepdogs thread on the supertrapp. The dual exhaust thing is deceiving as it doesn't necessarily put out more power than a single, just looks cool! Changing it out would be an improvement, but not without consequence. Make sure you compare the sound level to your stock one so you don't end up with something too loud, unless you don't mind. Aaen's are performance driven, so they may be pretty loud. Also, check for fitment as some cans are longer than stock and may not fit with your rear bumper...just some thoughts. Let us know how it works out!

Thanks for all of the replies... it is much appreciated! I will get some pics or a link up of our rides soon.
I haven't had the Bighorns that long, but they are working out great so far.

When clicking on your link JF, what kind of clutch kit was used with that AAEN product? Just curious, no I am not
getting any ideas, LOL.

No other mods that I know of, just the pipe. I won't buy a pipe from anyone who doesn't dyno it and show how much power it gains and at what part of the powerband. Some claim all kinds of extra power but the dyno shows a loss of power at low or mid-range, and a gain at the top. That's pretty much useless to me. I saw a magazine article several years ago where some pipes that were claiming 5-10 HP gains were actually only getting about 1-2 extra HP on the 500s. That's a waste of money too unless you just want to make it louder. It's like the difference between a 500 H.O. and a 500 EFI. I need more than that to justify the price of a new pipe. Plus some of them sell the spark arrestor that I need by law seperately, so it costs even more.
