Default Electrical Problem - Any suggestions?

Working on a 2004 Sportsman 700. Started and was told it ran OK. Did complete maintenance on it, changed the belt, oil, filters and re-jetted carb for high altitude preparing for a trip to CO. When work was done I had no power. Will not start. No LED guage readings. Nothing. Checked each sensor, each fuse...all good. Appear to have power to switch, when turned to on it powered the red wire, but when turned to start it did nothing. But if you jumped the hot wire from the switch to the starter wire it would crank, but not start. So I put a new switch in and that didn't make any difference. Wiring harness has been disassembled and checked out OK. I did not do anything electrically to this quad while I was working on it. Finally gave up and took it to the local dealer. They have had it for over 10 days and have not found anything different than I did. Any suggestions?

make sure it has good grounds and the kill switch isnt defective. but im sure the dealer would have checked that already.

You did adjust the carb you said............When doing this you may have +/- cable movement causing the ETC(electronic throttle control) out of wack......I think ,Stendori can set in here, you need a 1/8 play in the throttle cable for this to work properly.......Otherwise it will act as if the kill switch is on ,loose spark...............Something to check,As the dealer should have done this also.....Caper.........

I spent a lot of time reading the threads on here before I signed up. I am new to the forum and I really appreciate your help. Those are good suggestions. If the dealer doesn't fix it first I will check those things when I get it back. The previous owner had installed a twist throttle and I switched it back to the stock thumb throttle. I went by the schematics in the manual for everything electrical, but could that have caused some problem that would result in nothing working at all?

Welcome to the forum. I think since there were changes to the throttle, then the ETC is the likely culprit. Keep us posted on any progress.

the etc wouldnt stop it form turning over by the key if its set up right. it just wont start. seems that you said the key wouldnt work and you had to jump the wires to power the solnoide. did you unhook or hit/break any wires when you were doing these changes? just an idear. let us know what you find.

Stendori you called it right. Finally picked the quad up from the dealer tonight. It was the handlebar kill switch. We only took it to the dealer because we figured they'd get it figured out quicker (have more parts to try on it), but that wasn't the case. I'm sure we'd have figured it out, especially with your help. Three weeks and over $300 later, I'm sure we'd have gotten it done much sooner and a whole lot cheaper.....lesson learned
