Default heavy trailer

Yesterday I needed to return a concrete mixer to a farmer nearby so I decided to use my atv to get it there. I hooked a 14ft dual axle trailer to the back of my sportsman. Can anyone say SQUAT? lol I then loaded a 300+ lb mixer on the back along with my buddy that's about 230 lb. The trailer itself is about 2500 lb. You know it's behind a truck, let alone an atv. I pulled this trailer about 2 miles in low range to the farmers barn and off loaded the mixer. On the way there I had a small gravel hill to go up that in 4x4 it was all the sportsman wanted to pull. The trailer would push me like a boy pushing a baby. On the way back home I had a large blacktop hill to climb. Let me say, low range, full throttle and it would only do 13mph up it. I can say that I really worked that 700 yesterday in the 85degree heat. Gotta love working those sportsmans.

Your brave..............Very brave.............

One question though.............Why not use a truck?..Maybe the 2003 Sierra?
I spent over $16,000.00 CAD on my two Quads.......and why put them through that?

...I know to see if it can!...LOL...LOL.....Now I understand......LOL.........Thanks for the story....Caper.......

Where the barn was at I couldn't get truck and trailer turned around due to electric fence and other things around the barn. Takes 4 people to pick up the concrete mixer in the back of a truck and I only had 2 of us so with a gated trailer I was able to roll the mixer onto the trailer.

That blows the whole "Polaris can't tow anything on that tiny hitch" theory.

Yeah I made a 2" reciever for my polaris that bolted thru the ball hole and the large hole behind that. I did figure out though that I need to put a small spacer in the large hole because the heavy trailer tended to push the hitch from side to side about an 1" or so. I've pulled that the county fair before with a sportsman and the extra weight come in real handy when working the atv. Those cows may have more hp or speed but they don't have enough a$$ to put it to the ground when working them. So much for the 1500# capacity and 35# tongue weight. haha I believe there were times that I had 200-300# tongue weight. Suspension was squatted out pretty level, not sagging negative.

I think the hitch adaptors cost $25 on ebay, but they're made for lightweight stuff.

Yes I've seen those but the way mine is made makes it more less straining on the factory hitch. Most of those only have one bolt going thru the factory hitch. Mine has 2 fixed points with more surface contact. I need to post some pictures sometime of how I made it. I've not seen any that bolted up the way I made mine. I make all my own stuff. Much cheaper and a good hobby for the evenings after work.

That is impressive! Braking would be the part I would worry about on hills. Most I have towed is my 1500# pop-up camper, on flat ground. The 800 pulls it with no problem at all. I did drag a tree trunk the otherday that we guessed weight 1200+ pounds(the one in the pic in my signature), all 4 tires were churning, but it drug it to where I needed it. I must say we were impressed.

Gotta love the weight of the popos when it comes to that stuff. We drag firewood out like that all the time.

The heaviest thing I ever pulled was a tree and I agree the weight does help. Any less and it might just sit and spin all four.
