Are the sportsman 300's tires better than the hawkeyes? I heard the hawkeyes suck

What kind are they? Does the Sp 300 have 489s or something else?

 

i had the 489's stock on the lil 400, and they were a "good" all around tire and did not tear my yard up..but as far as sand,mud or hills they sucked!!i run the 589 m/s tires now and they are AWSOME .. the mud,river or hills or even logs dont stop me now..when i really want to go play "lets get stuck"i throw on my 28" vampires..

 

it has maxxas AT's on it and it your on pavement going 5 mph and grab the brakes they will slide a good foot last time i was at haspin my wife was in awd in some mud i went through in 2wd and she was just spining tires.... i am going to order some 25" mud lites for it soon.

 

If I had 489s stock, I would leave them on the front and put 589s on the rear for muddin'.

 

The 06 Hawkeye 300 had 22' Maxxis tires on it, they were about useless. The new Hawkeyes I believe come with 23" tires, lots better tread pattern. Not sure what tires though.

 

Well it is hard to say if the Maxxas tires are good or bad since pretty much everyone goes up in size when they put on something different, so it may well be the added ground clearance that is making the difference! I can tell you there was no comparison between the stock 22" Maxxas and the 25" Swamplites that I replaced them with!
When the 400HO came home to stay, the 25" Swamplites went on the 400 HO and the wifeys Hawkeye got the 24" 489s that where stock on the 400HO. These tires seem to be a perfect match for the 300 and she goes anywhere the rest of us go with no problem!
