Well i just picked up a new 2008 sportsman 500ho a few weeks ago and alli can say is wow.
i have roughly 13hrs and 70 miles so far.
I'm looking at buying my dad another one! i ran across a 2005 700twin efi, it has rack extenders and a warn 2500 winch... it has 145 hrs with 1600 miles. He's asking 4600. but will take 4k for it. Is this too much too pay for this. He's an older guy, so i don't believe that he rode it too hard, but he is the second owner.
Any thought would be greatly appreciated..

Congrats on the new ATV. My '06 HO has been performing flawlessly since new. $4K for the 700 seems like a good price if it doesnt need any work done to it. 1600 miles in 145 hours doesn't seem bad either..........at more than 10 miles per hour of use, that might indicate mostly trail riding, which could mean that it has had an easy life.

Hopefully alot of miles. I just bought an 08 500 X2 and have about 6 Hrs on it with over 100 miles. The wife and I have been riding some trails.
If we keep it up at this rate, I'll have 5000 Miles on it in a few years.
My brother in law told me that he had about 3000 miles on his 05 kawasaki and it's still running like a top. He told me that he put about 2000 miles on it in the first year of ownership.

I think that we all have the same opertunity to get a good reliable Quad from any manufactor.
But on the used ones, after watchen Ytube I would really hesitant on a used purchased, even old guys Barrie there Quads in 4ft Mud holes.
I would want to see service records. used can be a good buy but you will have to judge the guy accordingly.
