Default OIL prices

Looking through the froum I saw Sendori's "Gas Prices" thread. I recently had to lock in a "cap" price for fuel oil for the heating season.

I locked at $4.89 plus a $0.25/gallon "cost to participate fee" - making my effective cap price $5.14. This was with Dead River.

Has anybody else pre-bought or locked in a cap? What are others getting for a rate?

yep i just did mine last week and i prebought as the cap price was $4.60 + a .30 service per gallon fee(which sucks but its being passed on to the companies) so instead i had to get 500 gallons for $4.50/gal. ouch there goes all my hard earned money.

I usually use 900 gallons in a season - sooo I didn't have the cash on hand to pre-buy, but I could have saved 40 cents a gallon if I did.

Yep, bad back and all, I still plan on using the woodstove for most of my heating needs. I got 3 tanks with about 75 gallons each delivery last year. That covers heating water for shower, sinks, and laundry. I got 4 tanks or so when I didn't have the stove. Each time was 175+ gallons. I've got 12 acres up in VT that has beech, maple, and ash. Good stuff. It hurts but not as much as spending $700+ per tank of oil.

If the winter is gonna be like the last few we've had down here, I'll have the windows open.

All electric home, and with the temps around 100º, not looking forward to this months bill.

Looks like I'll be turning the thermostat down this winter. I haven't locked in a price on propane yet. Now I'm afraid to go to the office to find out what their prices are.

its funny becasue i deliver wood pellets stoves sometimes and so far these last 2 months ive been doing it alot w/ people trying to find a cheaper source of heat. but all the dealers told me that the price of pellets is already going up and they will be hard to get this fall/winter. so when oil went up so didnt everything else.
