And the answer is....
I can say one thing. I have posted on the HONDA forum a few times w/r to a Fourtrax
I bought used and gave to my nephew. Obviously there were questions I had about
HOP UPs, maintanence etc. etc. and the posters on there are alot less informative
on those threads then I find on the POLARIS forum. I don't know why, when you look
at the main page and read the number of posters they are up there with this forum
as with Yamaha forum too.

well mongrol, here is an example: i asked if i used a higher weight engine oil it would help it stay cooler and safer in hot running conditions. someone said yes, and i went to the dealer and he says its the complete opposite. lower weight will help it run cooler.</end quote></div>
Good point hawkman, but I think in that instance you got opinions not facts. Thats the problem with forums, You get a lot of opinions, some of which may be accurate, some not and they may come for someone that has no more experience than the poster.
Its sometimes hard to figure out what the question really should be because the person asking the question may already have made up his mind what the problem might be and gives the forum whatever symptons support his belief.

and --Mongrol, had a cocker spaniel for 12 yrs. that was the meanist damn dog I've ever owned in my life. I'm telling ya meaner than a snake. Would bite anyone anytime, especially kids.

This old girl is pretty patient but avoids kids. However, I had a Cockapoo that was just like you described. Used to hide under the steps so he could let the paperboy get close enough to terrorize him.

You know what is really scarey? Is some posters who pose as ordinary members
and they are new young hired techs hired by Polaris to fix our Quads w/o
the experience. I know in my computer tech field that happens all the time,
I used to be one of them back in the day...[img][/img] Just a thought that it probably
wouldn't be any different here in this line of work and some on here to learn
the trade.

Blackdog13 just posted #1 and asked about a 2000 scrambler 500 tranny problem. What would be great if old polaris tech helped out and fixed the problem. He offered multiple answers to correct the problem and they may ALL be correct. But it would help us all if we knew what worked.
So, is Blackdog13 real or is he Tech?

I lurk quite a bit, but I only post when I really don't know the answer. I try to follow up if I find the solution.
I've only had my quad since April, so I'm new to the whole thing. I'm a pretty good wrench, but I just don't get some of the idiosyncrasies of these Polaris 2-strokes.
Not all of us newbies are bad. :-)

Whoa! back up the train AB.
nobody said newbies were bad.
It just seems some come here for an answer and don't stick around and some don't tell us what they found out. It's all a learning experience if we can help out and know what the fix to the problem was.
If some guys are techs wanting an answer, I think they should be better at their job. Some guys here in the forums bring their quads in for repair thinking there are qualified techs working on their machines, when some of the best techs are right here.
