Default Rear Work Lights

Hey guys im thinking about finally installing my rear work lights today but i need some input and help. I have looked over the machine and no exactly where to place the lights and how to do it. My question is what kind of lights do i get and what number are they. Also after i cut the hole out for the switch how do i wire it to the switch and what type of switch should i get. Im thinking ill be able to get this stuff at a local auto zone or home depot. Thanks.

A simple toggle or button switch will do, tie into any red/white (red with white stripe hot only with ign key ON to keep from draining battery if left on) ground wire on lights to frame or neg battery post. Most people mount lights on rear bumper depends on model.

On a new Sportsman? I think they are prewired, just need bulbs and a switch. Bulbs are GE912. A 2-pole switch is all you need, if you want it to match any existing switch in your pod, just tell the guy at the counter what you're looking for and he'll show you all the 2 pole switches he has. Otherwise you can order the switch from your dealer.

hey, check out the toggle switch i got at autozone, it's in my pics. it has an LED light so you can't forget to turn them off. the light is blue on mine to match but they had several different colors. switch was about $7 plus tax. had to cut the connector off inside the pod and attached leads to the wires then just plug in!! i didn't use the square hole that was pre-shaped inside cuz i didn't like the spot. this switch had a round neck so i just used a 1/2" drill bit to make a hole where i wanted. pushed it in and screwed the plastic lock nut on and hooked up wires. all in all it took me about 20 minutes to do it after i got back from parts store. the ge/sylvania 912 bulbs are super bright. hope this helps.....Woody

Thanks guys. I went to auto zone and got everything hooked up all they had was a three prong red switch or a 2 prong round black switch. I got the red switch it wires up and does the trick but doesnt light up because its a three pronger. Im goin to keep my eyes open for a black switch shaped like the red one because it fits perfectly into the cutout hole.

I'm guessing the third prong would make the switch light up if it were grounded to something? Maybe jump a ground off the 12v outlet?
