Default "No ignition spark" - 2006 Hawkeye 330

My riding partner ownes a 2006 4wd Hawkeye 330.
He has arlready replaced new in an attempt to regain ignition fire the following: Spark Plug, Coil, and CDI. He knows it's not in the shifter switch not registering neutral because his motor will not turn over at all unless it is in neutral. The motor turns over fine and is getting proper fuel. He just simply has no spark to his plug???

Any advice to possible problems or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million,
Mud

How about if he gives it a little throttle while trying to turn it over? Check the ETC

The ETC that Rowe refers to is in the black box that the thottle is below. Take the lid off the box and inside you will see wires with contacts on the ends that seperate when you move the throttle. To see if this is the problem put a small piece of paper between the contacts and if it starts, remove the paper and adjust the contact with the adjuster on the cable.

OK I have been racking my brains and have done on-line reserch to no avail!

What is an ETC that you are refuring to? The only thing I can think up is an Electronic throttle control??? Also, if this is what it is than how would this inhibit spark to the plug? I understand contacts being too close and shorting something but I am just not familiar with what this is.

My freind has not had a chance to look at the 4 wheeler yet but he is going to bring it to me this Sunday. I will let you know what I find if anything.

Thanks,
Mud

The ETC (electronic throttle control) is a safety feature that will shut down the ignition system in case the throttle cable breaks. When you take off the cover you'll see how it works. If you hold the braided cable and move the thumb throttle you should see the contacts close.

Back in buisness!

Thanks for all your information, that was the problem. I laughed pretty good at my buddy for throwing $ on parts for it. I told him along time ago if he has problems to let me know before he spent money and let me post questions here on this site if we could not figure it out ourselves.

I guess this was a good lesson for him and he will indeed do that next time before opening up Hip National Bank again!!!

Thanks,
Mud
