Default 96 Sportsman 500 Flywheel?

Anyone know of a 96 sportsman flywheel can be replaced with a newer year? If so up to what year? Thanks.

Default 96 Sportsman 500 Flywheel?

Never tried but older models have exposed magnets in flywheel, while newer ones are inclosed! Like I said never tried only replaced a couple older model flywheels and stators when stators were destroyed by chipped/broken magnets! Maybe someone HAS! I just work with STOCK replacement, but good question though!

Thanks for the info. The only reason I am asking is because I am having an extremely hard time find a 1996 flywheel used. I don't want to spend 300$ on a flywheel for a quad that I got for free.

Hey no I have not found a aftermarket supplier…I did find a used one and ended up with that. I did find eBay for a stator though around 60$ and it works.

I recently bought a 96 sportsman 500 with a bad flywheel & the only replacement was on eBay for $400 & was an ff95 but I couldn’t tell if the other set of numbers was the same or not & I’ve heard people have a very hard time finding them. I already had an FF97 flywheel & stator & cdi & I had to order the correct stator plate & also had to change voltage regulator but it runs great & now I believe is a high output system
