Sounds like armature plates sticking, low on fluid, bad bearings? If going into hubs, replace worn parts!

when i took it apart i noticed the armature was stuck "still magnatised i removed it and put it back on and no longer sticking, also i noticed the bearing wernt tight the iner-race had alot of play to it, i use normal atf fluid, in the manual it says use atf type f fluid, is there much difference between the two?

Went through what you are experiencing and tried the ATF, the only thing the ATF is good for is cheap flushing of system, went to Polaris demand drive fluid afterwards and have had no more problems. Its well worth the extra money, a quart lasts through a few hub changes and the hassle free operation alone justifies the cost.

Sudden AWD engagement can be caused by a warped driveshaft or propshaft. If it takes some speed for it to engage then I would not rule this out. The hubs are not always the unwanted engagement problem ( not saying they can't be) If you don't know what you are doing with the hubs then TAKE IT TO YOUR DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you arn't careful then it can cost you alot of money. I've been working on Polaris for 10 years. The AWD is the most simple design to work on there is. It can also be the most complicated if you don't know what you are doing.
