Silent Chain
#1
Do I have to remove the tranny to replace the silent chain? I am now experiancing the click on take off and every time I let off the throttle and back on the throttle. I am scared that the impact may brake the chain.

Silent chain that is being referred to is a double row chain in trans that powers forward drive, just like external chain and sprockets that powers rear wheels. Reverse gear is gear to gear and never really a problem. If jumping a lot, pulling very heavy loads,or just over a period of time, sometimes chain will develop slack, starts jumping teeth on internal sprockets and makes a god awful noise and at the worst will not go forward. Trans must then be torn down for inspection and repair. I have done several like this, usually on entry level machines such as trailblazer. I just wish ALL level machines had low range, which in my opinion would help longevity!
