"Sputtering" '06 450
#1
My problem started when riding through a narrow valley which was to steep for me to pull up. I positioned myself on a hill and left the 450 running while I found a tree up top to hook to. As I came back down, my 450 just shut off. My riding partner at the time had the same thing happen to his honda 500, but his worked fine after that. Mine on the other hand has been nothing but a nightmare!
I repacked the exhaust thinking that might be the problem and no improvement.
So far here is what has been completed by the local Polaris service dept.
1st trip: new spark plug
2nd trip: tune up
3rd trip: carb was examined and "repaired"
4th trip: new primary clutch & secondary ramps
5th trip: examined vents to clutch & airbox adjusted clutches to specs
I now have right at $1,000 in repairs and still have the same problem as day one!
When I ride it for a long enough time for the 450 to get good and hot, it sputters or bogs down when I push the throttle. When I let off of the throttle it doesn't sputter. It idles around 1200 RPM's and is fine on short trips that don't require WOT.
Does anybody know what the problem might be? Please help!

did you make sure all the vent hoses are not plugged or pinched? check to make sure when it does it again loosen the gas cap to make sure its not under pressure.

this really sounds like a carb/fuel problem as you discribe it and I can't figure why the dealer would work on the clutch and/or the clutch vents!
wondering if the main jet could be fouled or the fuel bowl level messed up
