If fan blades tight to turn, then replacement probably necessary. First check where sensor at radiator bottom connects into fan harness, pull sensor end from harness connector, jump two wires at harness connector to see if fan works. If not fan motor bad. Saw some posts about auto parts electric fan being used.Check oem versus aftermarket if available, some of the other members should know. Good luck

Jack the front end up and leave the radiator cap off while running to see if you have any trapped air. If the fan kicks on properly the level should go down and you can top off the radiator and replace the cap.May take a couple times for the fan to cycle on and off to remove any trapped air.Check also for any wet spots under the recoil area in case a water pump seal might be seeping also and loosing coolant. Low coolant levels can cause overheating. If after you do all this and it still spews into the coolant bottle you could have a defective radiator cap. 13psi caps can be found at most auto stores.
