Default Magnum 325 maintenance

I just inherited two Magnum 325's, from my in-laws. I don't really do my own work on my personal vehicle, mainly because if i get in a jam, i am stuck! I have decent mechanical sense, and can follow along with instructions. Is the shop manual worth getting for these machines? How about getting in and doing the work? Hard? Easy?

One thing i need to do is check the idle. Where should I start? Thanks.

YOU CAN DO THE MAINTANANCE YOURSELF,there is alot to do on a MAGNUM.Engine oil and filter, tranny oil, front differential oil, rear differential oil, shifter oilYou should remove the belt cover [have to take bolts out of floorboard too] and blow out the clutches and inspect every thing in there. The magnums have alot of grease fittings There isnt any thing too hard you shouldnt be able to figure out, hopefully you have the owners manual,it shows drain plug and fill plug locations. It takes some time ,a little longer than my sportsmans.
As far as the idle problem.Start with a clean air filter and prefilter. If your year magnum has a prefilter bag wash it with soap and water.[my 00 does]REplace the airfilter.CHECK the spark plug condition. After you have done this and it still doesnt idle ,there is a thumb screw on the carb to beef it up a bit.Aengine starving for air wont idle good.Hope you have as good of luck with your magnums as i have.Tough machines.

YES,What 02 magnum 500 said is correct.Ido have the manual, but dont use it much.Ipulled the tranny out of my o2 cause it was leaking[wasnt sealed good at the factory]Idid it all without using the manual. The machine is pretty much common sense.
Iforgot HUB OIL needs to be changed regularly too.DONT LET IT GO DRYITLL COST YA.Use the right oil in it or it wont shift in and out of awd too.
