1999 400 4x4 scrambler

so i just bought a 99 scrambler 400 two stroke needed little bit of work was pushing to much oil so i blocked off the autooiler and premix my own gas now im doing 40;1 that is the right mix correct? also i was taking it apart to check a few things what is the dipstick for that is below the carb and back right a tiny bit i pulled it out with a flathead and it has nothing on it i was runnning the crap outa it to i hope i did't mess it up what goes there? thanks for the help

Welcome to the forum n00b. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] I never had a 400 but only dipstick I know of is for the counter-balance oil. I wouldn't ride it again until I was sure. I believe 40:1 is the right ratio to pre-mix. Other people have said it is.

it's for the counter-balance. put 10w30 oil in it . the pre-mix souds right to me. the oil pump might need adjusting. it's a small box looking thing on the bottom of the front motor. with 3 bolts holding the cover on. line up the lines at idle and it is set.
