Throttle cable help

Can anyone tell me if a 1988 trail boss throttle cable will fit a 1986 trail boss.

well if you look up an 86' throttle and cross ref. the pn#'s it fits an 85 and 86 t boss and a scrambler. doesnt say any other year.

Tank on 86 Humongus,same function for both cables,but length could be a problem.
