Getting stuck alot

just remember bigger tires sometimes help and sometimes et you in a deper hole. sometimes tires just wont help in all areas and experince will get you thru as you try differnt things. imo.

the mud i ride in is very decieving. it looks like a good surface because we aren't getting much rain. when you get you fall right in. Its GOOD mud too. its the kind you have to really keep the rpms up or you'll never get out. If you try to creep you'll be sunk and have slicks in about three tire rotations. It is so thick and stinky. So much fun.

Cheapskate; it sounds like you need a winch more than you need new tires. A rear mounted winch is nice since you can back out of a hole instead of going farther into it and all the way through. With a multi-mount it takes less than 30 seconds to swap it from the rear to the front, so you can pull in either direction.

yeah I know I need a winch, but I want my bike to pe able to pull at 100% before I get a winch. I guess I m going to get some tires and a clutch kit and try those holes again. If that don't work, I'll get a winch. I'm a real proud dude so a winch is a last resort. I want to be able to put everybody else I ride with to shame!

IMO no utility ATV should be without a winch. There isn't an ATV made that will go everywhere and a winch is just smart insurance. I have never though of a winch as a crutch or a sign of weakness lol. Just a tool, and a good one at that. They come in handy in several situations.

My first machine was the only one not to have a winch. After learning how handy they are will never have one without again. Also good for plow, pulling trees, pulling others out. I am running 27" mud lites on mine and still get stuck. The only way you will not is to stay out of the muck & on trails.

Winch is number one for getting out of mudholes. For tires, I think the best thing to look for is the tread depth. A tread depth of 1" or more is great for pulling up and out of holes. Momentum is the biggest single thing a rider can do along with getting up and over the handle bars to try to pull out of the mudholes. I've had to winch out my son a couple times in the last couple of feet on the rims of holes too.
Rtickwad, you might get a welder to make a 1 1/4" to 2" receiver adapter. There are a lot of winches that can be mounted to a 2" receiver hole. You'd have to run the power somehow to the back of the quad.

Since we are talking Rear winch setups, anyone
know of a crafty way to mount one in the rear
so you DON'T have to sacrifice the cargo box?

A Warn Multi-Mount plugs right into the receiver. No welding or adapter needed and it comes with all the wiring. http://www.warn.com/atv/atv_mu...p?refresh=true&winch=1
