Default Testing fan switch & odometer.

I'm reparing my '00 Sportsman 500 after a bad end over end spill last year & am in need of some info.

(1) How to test the fan switch (read it before but can't find the article)

(2) Nothing in the speedo works, the three pin connector has no volts, is this normal?

(3) The best procedure for curing the coolant leak near the water pump.

All information is greatly appreciated!

On harness to speedo, red wire should have voltage. If has then possible speedo malfunction.Check some other members posts on cracking into speedo. On fan sensor harness check to see if resistance between leads,or to check fan motor itself, jumper wire into leads that radiator sensor plugs into, should give power to fan motor,if not check for shorts. On coolant leaks, check hose clamp and hose going into water pump, water pump cover gasket seeping, or weep hole under water pump housing,if coming out of hole w/p seal bad (Just replaced hose on 500 Ranger that exh pipe burnt, plus was leaking at water pump inlet also)

Ok, I figured out the overheating, it was a stuck thermostat, the one in the head anyway, I'll try the seal that "old polaris tech" mentioned to stop the leak. All that's left is the speedo/odometer, it is comletely dead, any more ideas?

I'm on to the speedo now, the overheating problem has already been diagnosed. Any speedo info?
