CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO TELL IF A QAUD IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ENGINE BRAKE. THERE ARE NO DECALS SAYING IT HAS OR NOT. IS THE CLUTCH DIFFERENT?

If you look down in the primary clutch(front clutch) and you see a grooved bearing that the belt rides on then yes you have ebs. You can also post your belt number and I can tell you that way because there are ebs belts and non ebs belts.

 

That was the biggest diff between my old Yamaha Kodiak 450 and the 800 X2 Polaris. Let off the gas on the Po, and the thing virtually stops! The Yamaha had enhanced engine braking (both automatic trannys) but was NOT NEAR AS effective.

 

BELT # IS FOR EBS, HAVE NOT LOOKED AT PRIMARY BUT WILL DO THAT. WANT TO MAKE SURE IT HAD THE PROPER BELT ON.

JUST LOOK ON THE CENTER OF THE PRIMARY CLUTCH AND YOU WILL SEE GROOVES IN IT.
