Default wheel bearing installation-any tips or tricks?

hey guys, the mudding has come back to bite me in the a$$. Even though I wash it after every muddy ride (except for one time that I rode 2 days in a row) the LR wheel has got some play in it. Maybe 1/4" at the top of the tire when I shake it. I'm going to ride this weekend and then changing the bearing is on my to-do list for next week. I just wanted to know if there is any way to salvage it?(repacking) How much one costs? Where to buy the cheapest? Any tips or tricks to make it easier? Thanks guys, I know you'll come through for me again.

Cant repack it UNLESS race comes out! bearing not any good if it does! I use a vice, remove big circlip, heat hub and knock out, while having new bearing in our freezer which helps "shrink" metal. Reheat and usually bearing just drops in with little effort, then replace circlip. ONE BIG bearing. Check that absolutely necessary that it needs replacement, check to see if can tighten hub to eliminate any excessive play.I dont change too many bearings, usually pretty tough, depends on how, where you ride. If a mud dog then bearings could be ready to be replaced.

thanks alot. your info should help make it alot easier. THe heating and cooling trick is a great idea. Beats the heck out of beating my hub to death to get the bearing out.

Default wheel bearing installation-any tips or tricks?

Hello I noticed that you posted a response to someone replacing a front bearing on a 4X4 quad and had a question on a 2X4. That questions is on my 2007 Polaris Outlaw 90 how do I get the bearings out? Do they push out only one side? and should I replace the seals?

The quad has seen ALOT of mud and would like any suggestions on how to keep up on this type of maintenance so they may last longer!
