Default broken drive belt

I let my friend ride my 2006 sportsman 800 and he hit a ditch he didnt see as he was going across a field at about 20 mph. It broke the a arm and half shaft on the left front it also pushed the fan against the front diff. (I dont think it supposed to be like that). I got it back tonight and the fan is in the same place and when it comes on it is hitting something as it turns. I only made it about 3 miles before my drive belt broke. It has 300 miles and 50 hours on it. Is that normal to break a drive belt or is this from the wreck.

A lot depends on HOW it was driven BEFORE he hit the ditch! Good luck

I am not sure how it was ridden because I bought it 4 days before he ditched it.

You should check the clutch alignment. Misaligned clutches will tear up a belt pretty quick. Sounds like it was hit pretty hard, and could have knocked the motor and there for the primary out of place.

I would knock your so-called friends jaw out of alignment! Although it would be a 1 in a million chance, you could have just gotten a bad belt. If it breaks in a certain way, I think it may be covered by polaris. I'd ask old polaris tech first though. If it is covered that is 50-60 bucks you won't have to spend on what already sounds like an expensive F-UP. Good luck.

If the it has been checked then put a belt on it and see what happens. I would check it ofte to see how it is wearing. If it wears excessively or breaks then the clutch are def. misaligned.
