The jails are full because we don't have the death penalty for ANYTHING. If they killed all the murderers and rapists there would be room to lock up the thieves. Since there's no room for them in jail they do whatever they want. Probably 90% get away with it, 9% get probation and 1% go to jail, but only for awhile.

That just totally sucks JF.

After reading your signature, it's sounds like with your luck, you'd end up with your old quad.

Laws are a lot different down here in Texas. I can and will shoot a person for trying to steal my property. We used to have some crackheads that lived around the corner in a rent house. They could be walking down the sidewalk on our side of the street, and would cross over to the other side when they went by my house. It was obvious to both of us that we knew who each one of us was. And they made a very wise choice.

Even if I catch a gang of thieves in the act I can't do anything except call the police. I already got put on probation and got a gun confiscated for defending my life, so if I use a gun to stop a theft I'm really screwed. If someone is in my yard I can't do anything even if they're threatening me and stealing everything I own. I can't fire a warning shot or even walk outside with a gun. Brandishing a firearm is a crime around here. It doesn't matter why you did it and it doesn't matter if you point it at someone or not. I didn't but now I'm missing a customized Dan Wesson that can never be replaced. That's the kind of laws we have in Democrat states and our Democrat prosecutors love to punish the victims and let the criminals go. Even if they come into my house I have to prove in court that I was in fear of my life and couldn't run away. Then I'll fill them so full of lead you can use them for an anchor.</end quote>

You should move to Texas, last year we passed the "castle" law. Pretty much says if someone is on your property after dark and you are afraid for your life or loss of property you can shoot. There were a lot of shootings at first, unfortunately they were teenagers who probably werent going to do much of anything but that sent the message. Crime is down overall.

Man, Jumbo, I can't believe this! And for the people who blame the victim, who did his best to secure it, knock it off! It's bad enough when some punk steals something and gets away with it. Then someone comes along and blames the victim of the crime. I'm beginning to think this whole country ought to have mandatory gun safety classes and arming of all law abiding citizens. You would see the most amazing reversal in the crime rate. Or maybe give everyone wood chippers. That might be more of a deterrent. Frank, I hope things work out and you can move. If you can, get out in the country of Texas or one of the other states that treat criminals like criminals and shake the hands of the citizens who defend themselves, their families, and their properties from punks. Nuff said.

They only confiscated one and didn't know I still had another (new) one. I let them take the half-empty one which is BULLSHIT since I was being assaulted in my own yard. I hate our local police. Most of them don't give a damn about anyone except themselves. I carry Pepper spray with me on my scooter too, in case dogs or muggers come after me. If they take my last can of spray I'll just have to use a gun until I get more.

I've been to Texas and can't take the heat. Louisianna is even worse and has 100% humidity 100% of the time. I need to find someplace north or west. Maybe Idaho. I love potatoes. [img]i/expressions/heart.gif[/img]

I don't know any places that install Lo-Jacks on ATVs. Maybe you can help me out. But Lo-Jacks usually go inside of frames and places like that where no one can see them anyway. I don't think there's a place to hide it on an ATV.

I talked to one of my neighbors. He didn't hear or see anything when my ATV went by only a foot away from his bedroom window. He asked if I had insurance and when I said I do, he says, well at least it didn't cost you anything. The guy is obviously just as dumb as he looks.

I don't get replacement cost. I get used vehicle cost. When the first two were stolen the insurance company gave me just enough money to buy one. When the last one was stolen they gave me $3,000 less than the price of a new one, and if I don't get this one back it will probably cost me another $2,000 on top of my insurance check to buy a replacement. Doesn't cost me anything? I wish. It's already cost me thousands of dollars, but still not as much as building a garage.

My claims representative even thinks the same people would just take it out of my garage if I get one built. He's going to come and see me before it gets turned over to the special investigations squad or whatever it's called. They want to know why I had so many ATVs stolen and see if I'm profiting on it somehow. I want to know why too, and if I was doing anything for profit I wouldn't screw myself out of three holiday rides when I only have three a year. I would have it stolen when I don't want to ride, if I had a choice.
