He puts 'er in gear and helps.
His winch was not holding before Saturday and now it won't work at all. Damn Warn winches! Just kidding. My Polaris winch seems to have been the better piece of equipment tho.

Making any progress Tammy?

My PO winch went out after about 3 months, dealer just swapped it. This one has been working fine.

Well, I got it apart. If it has glazing, it is very slight. I can see very SLIGHT discoloration, but it still feels smooth.
But I do have a question... on the clutch face of the drive gear on the side closest to you if you were standing on the driver's side of the machine looking at it there is a smooth indent that feels about .010-.015" deep consistent all the way around. Is this supposed to be like this? It's down at the bottom of the clutch face toward the center of the diameter where the belt would be touching. It's so consistent that it's like it's supposed to be there. There isn't anything like this on the opposite side. I'm wondering if it's supposed to be like that.

It should be straight all the way down the sheaves with no indent. It sounds like it spun enough to wear a groove into it. It might be okay, but if you ever get mud in there it's like a belt sander and can make a groove so deep you have to replace the pulley(s).

The belt angle has a pretty close tolerance with the clutch face any groove will degrade this. The less face contact you have the less torque you will be able to transfer and the easier it will be to slip the clutch face against the belt causing accelerated burning.
