Default 07 800 cutting out, back fireing, and poping through airbox

This weekend we went to WV riding. Sat night the bike started losing power and making a poping sound which i could not tell if it was a backfire or through the intake. I have a blown out head pipe donut gasket so it was very hard to determin the exact location of the noise. But as the problem goes on longer the motor noise gets louder. If you park it for a while 30 min to all night the problem stops and it runs normal. It feals like it goes into a limp mode. the RPM would not go above 4500 more throttle just made more noise and would make the poping stop. On occations the bike would just rocket off then slow right back down with the same amount of throttle. I rode all day Sunday with no problem then it started again sunday afternoon/night. Any ideas? I have to clean it up and its going to the dealer tomarrow.

first, pull your muffler off and see how it runs!!!
2. check your fuel pump for too much pressure
too easiest things to check and do't cost anything but do the muffler first it only take about 5min to pull off it might not be letting enough exhaust out which means it has to go somwhere-----back into the engine and carb and then air box!!!

First do your machines have the pipe with the springs in the front as an y pipe going into a single pipe or is it the kind that is a dual header?
My bike had the first ,blowing so many donuts the cops were going hungry, poping missing eating lots of fuel,
the manifold pipe was cracked and distorted.
I replaced it with a 06 800 replacement header ,two peice,it joins just under the seat.
That fixed my problems, $ 156 for the pipe and $30 for the new heatshield.
. Just a thought guy's. oh and an K@N air filter too, now it sounds great and goes like scared kitty now.

My pipe is a 2 into 1 head pipe with a single donut collector. Im wondering if the donut itself got blown back into the exhaust pipe and is plugging it up. I really think that my melted plastic is from the exhaust leaking. Also i think my front motor mount is broke because it moves almost an inch when the bike revs.

melting plastic from bad exhaust running lean making it very hot and the engine mount is gone.
when you change the mount and pull the exhaust pipe off to change the dount check that the colector pipe (manifold pipe)is not distorted bent or cracked.
it's a **** design the 800 header is better,if your pipe is screwed its just a little more money to get 800 pipe vercess just replacing the single y pipe.

NOW Fix It and put SuM mUd on it before it forgets ...

so the 700 pipe is different than the 800's and you guys are replacing your 700's with 800's parts. My front motor mount is shot not the side one. I'm taking it to the dealer. I paid a fortune for that warrenty and im gona get every bit of use out of it i can.

I just droped it off at the dealer. I took some video and sound clips of the motor running and the bad motor mount. look in my photobucket and the video section of the 07 sportsman section.
