First ride with a Rubicon. Believe the hype, the Rubicon is for real. Our group consisted of a 00 sp500, 01 sp500 ho,01 Honda 450 s and a Rubicon. In 12-16' of snow riding west of Caroline Ab the Rubicon consistently out pulled all of us in the hills. On the flats the sp500's were the strongest-likely due to the groung clearance advantage. Front diff on the rubicon was effective and easy to steer. One drawback to the rubicon appears to be fuel economy and range-only about 50-55 km where the sp500's got over 80 km.

Interesting!
I went riding a few weeks ago with a group of 2 rubicons,1 Scrambler500 4x4,2 SP 500,and my SP500HO.one of the older SP500 had a hard time with the snow and hills because he was very inexperienced rider on a machine that was never taken care of.The 2 rubicons were next as far as having problems, the three wheel drive really sucks and they just don't have the power that Polaris has and there suspension is nothing special.
When I get the pictures back I will attempt to post pictures of my Polaris pulling honda rubicons out of mud, snow, and up hills that honda couldn't handle but I had no problem with.
Almost forgot to mention that one of the rubies burned up a tranny, guess that new tranny still needs some work!

I would never own a quad that is full time 4X4 again. They're good for farm work, that's it.

You must be new to the forums. And you know nothing about ATV's especially Hondas. If you did you would know that this particular transmission is not new and has been used now since 1962. I own two Hondamatics. 1-1978 CB750 with 12K on the odometer and a Rubicon neither of which have given any hint of problems.

BTW- where is Polarisrules_japcrapsux, WA, US? Personally, I think your full of it.

Guess I will have to get me a farm for my new Ruby. Maybe I CAn put a few trails in to ride on when I go to milk the cows. IT really hurts to think only farmers should have all the fun

whatever, a Sport is good for nothing but going fast down a flat road, just as long as you don't jump or have to do anything technical. And the kodiak is alright in the mud as long as you don't mind 3wd, at least with the ruby you get 3.5 wheel drive.

If your from Canada a real draw back is Honda Canada wants $2000-$1500 more for the Rubicon than any other big bore Utility 4x4 guad made. You can buy alot of gas with a differance like that.

My buddy in Az. just called this morning. Him and his wife (2 "01" Sportsmans) went riding with our other friends (2 "01" Rubys) They were in about a foot of snow. He said the Ruby is the best Honda has come out with to go in snow. How ever he had to pull them each out once when the got stuck. The Ruby owner was thanking him as he hooked up the tow rope. My buddy said no problem he enjoys pulling stuck Hondas out. He immediatly was given the one fingered salute.

Go to my website, and you can see another use for a Sport, pulling a Honda 450 Foreman out of 8" of mud.

Back in December I had over 30 inches of snow. I had no problems. Whatsoever. If someone is getting stuck they plain can't ride.
