Default Air filters

My friend spends hours cleaning and oiling K&Ns just like CaptainQuint was saying. I get bored so while I'm waiting, I take the sock off my stock filter, wash it, and shake it dry. I tap the filter against a bench to knock the loose dust out then I get ready to ride. I still have to wait for him so I take a nap, then eat lunch when I get up, then wait some more. It's so late when we finally go for a ride that we don't get back until after midnight. IMO if you like riding more than you like having the whole day shot to hell you should stick with stock.

that's a bit over the top..you can service a k&n in a 1/2 hr..it gives you time to do the other rutine stuff, grease, check over and clean the air box and vent tube ..i run K&N filter in every thing i own except the lawn mower and weed wip( not that would be over the top)..are they better ? if well oiled i would say .YES.its just the point of one more thing to maintain do i mind? not a bit, crack a bud and enjoy!!
CHEERS!!!!!
as i like to tell the wife "WELCOME TO MAN-LAND".now can ya hand me another cold one?

Not over the top. No exaggeration at all. My friend does his family's 4 K&Ns one at a time because that's all he can do in the greasy old pan he cleans them in. Then we have to wait for them to dry. If they didn't need to be cleaned, dried, and re-oiled everyone could spend a few minutes knocking the dust off, changing it if need be, and washing the socks in the sink. Instead of minutes it takes hours like I said. Everyone else is ready to ride in the morning and they're ready in the evening. Sometimes we don't even ride after waiting that long because it's time to cook dinner. And he has to keep rebuilding engines that suck up a lot of dust. That's a typical summer vacation for us.
