The sportsman will fit in the bed, but you will have to back it in. Make sure your front compartment is latched real good. I even went with extra protection on puttin bungie straps from the rail on the hood down to the foot rest. I had my buddies ford ranger edge extended cab, first day I got my sportsman. First day I had mine, taking it home the lid broke right off at the hinges. Locks must not have been tight enough. Dealer charged me 80 to get a new one! Its a tight fit, as long as it doesn't have the rear bumper installed. If it has the rear bumper it will still fit, but your window will smash once you start moving!!

Now I have a trailer and don't worry about!!

Hmmm might send him up in my trailer then to get it. he's very new to atv's backing it up ramps might not be good for your first time on a new sportsman.
So you cant pull it straght in with the tail gate down?

When I got mine the dealer recommended backing it in, cause of the front of the atv hanging farther over the tires then the rear does. You might be better off lettting him take the trailer. Alot easier to for a newb.

It honestly fit better then i thought.
use two 4X4 blocks of wood to keep it away from the rear window and your good to go.

I actually made a ramp out of 2x8's for my Ranger. 45º angle starts just before the wheel wells, and goes to the front of the bed. Makes it a lot easier to unload, since the back tires aren't spinning on the bed. Also raises the front end at an angle, so the wheels actually hit the bed wall before the bumper hits the window.

Almost went through the back window once loading into a wet bed.
