Default 95 scrambler will not run

Okay, now that I have replaced the head gasket, put in a new main jet b/c the other one fell out , cleaned that carb. the darn thing will not start with out starting fluid. i have adjusted the the carb to the settings in my shop manual. I looked at the throttle assembly and noticed that there was a wire that was broken, it is broken right at the switch. I unplugged it will not idle at all,you can rev it up and it boggs down. please any one with knowledge of the 400 2 stoke give me some help.

If switch is the one that plugs into throttle assy, its the ETC switch, repair wire, adjust throttle cable slack to about 1/8" play in lever, then tighten cable locknut, then can adjust carb idle
