New guy. 07 500 EFI Sman....Full tank...3+ hours 75% in awd low range, 5mph....tank still reads full. Visually looks about half full. Is there a way to calibrate or reset or is the thing just this inaccurate? Does it get better towards empty? Thanks in advance for your input. Ron

As far as I know - thats the norm. I'll ride for three hours on full and then have 1 bar left. 2005' 700 EFI; I always set my odometer. I would suggest starting with a full tank and run it until you think it's real low - take a reading and the fill it up to see how much actual fuel you had left. I normally ride about 75 miles and then find out that I had about 1 gallon + left.

Both of mine seem to work ok.

Thats about how mine is too. Doesnt seem to start dropping til about 40 miles. Pretty much just try and fill it up if going far. If I'm just putting around the house I make sure it says at least a half cause it drops off quick after that.

Never heard of any fixes but wish there was one. What goods a fuel gauge if it doesnt work?

Mine also needs at least 40 miles on it before I drop a bar. From then on they drop purty regularly and at 109 miles everything started flashing so I gassed it up.

Mine stayed on full like that and when I rode some more it dropped when I hit a bump. It worked right after that.

Man I better get my quad checked out. My flasher comes on at about 50-55 miles, I dont think I'd get more than 60 or so. How the hell do you go 100 miles. Is this what you guys are getting too? Or do I have a little Big Oil Bush Troll down there drinking half of it. Something must be up with it.

Rowe, is that 50 miles up hill all the way in two feet of mud? I get about 100 miles per tank with a 500 EFI. You should get around 90 with a carb.

Mine is an EFI. I'm going to fill it up again and run it till its out of gas and see what I get. I don't do much open trail riding mainly slow tight trails but some of it is on gravel gas well roads. It is very hilly so maybe that has something to do with it but 40 miles is a big difference. I'kk try my experiment and see what happens. It may take me a while to find out I havent been riding much at all, and probably won't be for a while.

I never seen a gas gage I liked on a Motor cycle, sled or ATV. The last bar could mean you have enough gas for 5 miles or 30 who knows. I like the trip meter method, set it a zero on fill up and you know times up at 90 miles.
