Default Pro tracks vs. regular tires...

The Pro tracks are obviously much more expensive... but are they really worth it?

can you drive a 4 wheeler through as much stuff and up as many hills as successfully as with regular wheels?

if so, where does the real big advantage of these tracks come into play to justify the costs?

In my opinion, the tracks are at thier best in snow/ Impossible for tires to take you where the tracks will.

Tracks will not replace tires for summer use and have some disadvantages.

What other disadvantages do they have?

Can you still obtain high top speeds with the tracks?

I noticed they are pretty good for going through mud too... but is there any way the tracks can get broken or busted or jammed anyway by going through huge mud pits?

there is always tons of **** in mud and i dont want a 4k pair of tracks to break by over using them.

They seem like you obviously cant bounce around up and down hills at a quick pace... clearly the only time you can open them up is in a clear path right?

These can break off much easier compared to regular tires cant they if you smash onto a rock or get it stuck in a ditch?

Are they easy to remove for re-mount of regular tires for summer?

So basically these are great from fall to early spring?

Depending on the brand of tracks, expect to loose 20-40 % of your top speed, depending on their gearing.

Never used mine in mud but some like it, some don't.

R & R for summer, approx. 1 hr.

A big downside for summer is the loss of manoueverability on narrow trails. To turn around, you need about a 20 diameter circle, and thats jockeying it back and forth.

If I'm reading your riding style correctly, I don't think I would recommend them. They are ideal for20-30 mph riding but they will climb almost straight up.

Others may think differently, but this is from my personal experience. Hope this is helpfull.

Hmm. these save face for having to buy a snowmobile and an atv I suppose.

You cant "bounce" and jump and slam back on the ground with these with out damaging the tracks or the suspension like you are able to do just about anything with wheels can you?

Are they easy to remove and replace with regular tires when need be?

Tracks make your ATV a year round machine in areas that have snow in the winter. You have a summer/winter machine all in one, with lower cost.

The tracks will take a lot of punishment but the weak area is the mounting and anti-rotation brackets. Hitting a ditch hard can bend or break them. Donuts and hard sidehilling on dirt can pull the tracks off the frames if pushed too hard.

Initial installation takes about 3 hrs. After that, to dismount the tracks & remount the tires takes about 1 hr.

Someone that ice fishes in slush should be the one to comment on that and I know of a person that can give you first hand info. PM to the poster "Homeskillet" at

www.trackshare.com

He has a honda on tracks and pulls a shack. Lots of very positive info from him.
